Sea Grapes Storage & Shelf Life

The green dehydrated caviar can be stored in its outer packaging in the refrigerator at room temperature (max 23°C/74°F) in a cool, clean, dark place away from direct sunlight for up to twelve months.

While fresh sea grapes have a shelf life of only 7-10 days our dehydrated sea grapes last 12 months when properly stored at room temperature/refrigerated.

Recommendation: Once you receive your sea grapes order from us simply put the aluminum doypack which contains your “green caviar” into the fridge and enjoy as you wish.

Freshly soaked sea grapes

Once soaked, store them at room temperature.

Don’t freeze or refrigerate otherwise the small, crunchy sea grapes will collapse! They’re a tropical seaweed and hate cold conditions. Also, keep them away from direct sunlight.

If they change color due to sunlight or if they’ve been stored too long, put them under a fluorescent light and they’re succulent green color will recover after 5-10 hours, basically recharging the chlorophyll.

We only harvest fresh sea grapes that are less than half a year old to allow for the best possible quality once packed.

Dehydrated sea grapes

For best taste keep your pack of dehydrated sea grapes refrigerated.
They can be stored for up to 12 months (see best before date) without refrigeration though if the sea grapes are still in their original packaging.

Pressurizing the sea grapes in high salinity water dehydrates them through a special process, allowing for a full year of shelf life without the loss of taste or any nutrients. Once purchased and ready to eat, simply let them soak in fresh water for a minimum of 5 minutes and watch them grow to their full size. The saltiness fades almost completely due to the soaking in fresh water, the sea grapes are now ready to be enjoyed!

We recommend storing the sea grapes in their original packaging if you don’t intend on enjoying them right away. This way they won’t be exposed to any direct sunlight and won’t loose any color/taste.
