Green Sea Grapes (scientific name: Caulerpa Lentillifera) are a high quality seafood product form Okinawa, Japan. It is a native product grown, cultivated and processed organically in Japan (there’s only natural sea grapes and a hint of sea salt in them). Sea Grapes is an all-natural seafood product which can effectively enrich your health, making a great addition in any salad.
Freshly soaked sea grapes
Once soaked, store them at room temperature.
Don’t freeze or refrigerate otherwise the small, crunchy sea grapes will collapse! They’re a tropical seaweed and hate cold conditions. Also, keep them away from direct sunlight.
If they change color due to sunlight or if they’ve been stored too long, put them under a fluorescent light and they’re succulent green color will recover after 5-10 hours, basically recharging the chlorophyll.
We only harvest fresh sea grapes that are less than half a year old to allow for the best possible quality once packed.
Dehydrated sea grapes
For best taste keep your pack of dehydrated sea grapes refrigerated.
They can be stored for up to 12 months (see best before date) without refrigeration though if the sea grapes are still in their original packaging.
Pressurizing the sea grapes in high salinity water dehydrates them through a special process, allowing for a full year of shelf life without the loss of taste or any nutrients. Once purchased and ready to eat, simply let them soak in fresh water for a minimum of 5 minutes and watch them grow to their full size. The saltiness fades almost completely due to the soaking in fresh water, the sea grapes are now ready to be enjoyed!
We recommend storing the sea grapes in their original packaging if you don’t intend on enjoying them right away. This way they won’t be exposed to any direct sunlight and won’t loose any color/taste.
